Myanmar's government in 2018 promulgated the "Myanmar sustainable development plan 2018-2030," the article 5.4.2, clearly lists the priority to the development represented by solar renewable energy targets, and participate in the implementation of government ministries, including Myanmar power with the department of energy (MoEE), the industry (MoIND), Myanmar plan with the Ministry of Finance (MoPF), the agriculture, livestock and irrigation department (MoALI), Myanmar (MoCON) issued by the ministry of construction, etc.
The government is committed to supplying eight percent of the country's electricity through renewable sources like wind and solar power by 2020.Aim to increase that to 12% by 2025.This will help bring 100 percent electricity to the country by 2030.The country's main solar power facility, located at Minbu in maguay province, can produce 170 megawatts of electricity.
Myanmar's national power gap and power generation sources.
The country still lacks access to electricity, with the state grid covering less than 40 percent of the population and the country's per capita energy consumption among the lowest in southeast Asia.Currently, most of myanmar's electricity (74.7%) is generated by hydropower, with the rest coming from fossil fuels, mainly natural gas (20.5%), by coal and oil.In 2017, myanmar's installed generating capacity nationwide was about 5 gigawatts (GW).
